Watch work made by our AIRs and other BAX artists this season – makers who have and will go on to contribute to the fabric of our artistic community in Brooklyn and far, far beyond.
In this video, Letitia James, Public Advocate for the City of New York, reminds us that our Democracy is being threatened and throughout it all, she says BAX is a safe space.

But you already knew that.

You knew because you have walked through the big red doors, into the house that Marya built. You’ve taken your child to classes, you’ve come to a rehearsal, you’ve come to Artist Services Weekend, or participated in our Teen Arts Conference. You’ve gotten a space grant, a parent-artist grant or been an AIR. You’ve made work, you’ve learned, you’ve participated. You know that BAX is an important hub for and in Brooklyn.

So please, give before June 30 to ensure it can live on to become…
THE HOUSE THAT WE BUILD.

Thank you so much for your help. All donations to BAX are fully tax-deductible.

Meet the first four AIR as they discuss BAX’s 25 year legacy of supporting artists with Marya Warshaw, BAX’s Founding & Executive Director. Learn why BAX is a safe place to create, fail, thrive, and how that is ESSENTIAL to a whole generation of artists who have benefitted from BAX’s residency programs and gone on to win OBIEs, Bessies, Guggenheims, Dukes and more.

Be a part of BAX’s history. Be a part of our artists’ future.

WHY SUPPORT BAX?

If you have been following this campaign you know that we are talking about the HOUSE THAT MARYA BUILT and that we have a commitment to KEEP BUILDING!!!

You may have heard Marya speak about this at our recent student concerts and draw some parallels between maintaining your OWN home and what we need to do in order to INSURE that BAX is able to provide for generations to come.

In this video, Youth Education Directors past and present share what is unique and beautiful about teaching & learning here at BAX. We hope you’ll watch it and we hope you will contribute generously!

Dear Friend,
Every year at BAX, we see thousands of artists, audience members, student artists, faculty, staff, and community members walk through our iconic big red doors on 5th Avenue. We have often taken for granted that one person started the home we know as BAX, with just an idea.

THE HOUSE THAT MARYA BUILT.

After 27 years building our organization, Marya will retire at the end of 2018. She leaves behind a beating heart, a huge legacy, and a thriving community behind those same red doors that began as just a dream.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU?

As BAX moves forward seeking a new leader, we are looking to YOU to BUILD with us! We are asking you to SUPPORT BAX NOW in order to provide a permanent home for artist residencies, youth classes, community dialogues, studio shares, performances, workshops and all who want to live in a world of inclusivity, equity, diversity, and stories by and for everyone. With your help, we will continue to BUILD what Marya built –

With your help, we can make this the house that WE BUILD.
Give to BAX today.
