LANDS AND PEOPLES
by JENNIE MARYTAI LIU in collaboration with Sean Donavan
Friday & Saturday, April 9-10 @ 8:00 pm | Sunday, April 11 @ 6:00 pm

This new work is exploring the following phenomena and their interrelatedness: death curses, sick jealousy, father anger, nationalism and rice harvesting. Concrete situations rise up to the surface of a landscape of dance that is hard to climb. We try these situations on as a way to connect us to lives beyond our own inside the performance/rehearsal zone.

GIRL MEAT
by VICTORIA LIBERTORE
Friday & Saturday, April 23-24 @ 8:00 pm | Sunday, April 25 @ 6:00 pm

According to legend, Countess Elizabeth Bathory is the most prolific female serial killer in history. Drinking and bathing in the blood of her victims, she tortured and killed hundreds of women. Intrigued by this true story, solo performer Victoria Libertore channels Bathory’s essence with hilarity, a dose of camp and a hint of insanity. All the while exploring why as a society we find naked, twisted-up, bloodied bodies of women so damn fascinating.

THANGKS FOR NOTHIN delves into the lapses of memories of our daily lives and the beauty of the banality of putting on a play. This is a living catalog of things-done-badly, an examination of the overly and underly dramatic, and a exercise of learning through imitation. They are trying to improve, but in the meantime Marisa, Kate and Abby are only so-so.

PURO DESEO

AT THE KITCHEN, 512 West 19th Street, NYC
Thursday-Saturday, April 29-May 1 @ 8:00 pm
Sunday, May 2 @ 5:00 pm

PURO DESEO which translates both to “pure desire” and “nothing but desire”, looks into our essential need to move, to set free a new “uncivilized” self, questioning western assumptions of beauty and organization of the body. With PURO DESEO, achugar and her collaborators give themselves the challenge of creating a work where the form is a manifestation of the instinctual drive to create— hoping to bring the audience towards a deep connection with their own impulses, rather than serving them an isolated, commodified form to digest.
