Ted Stafford majored in Comparative Literature and studied music at Oberlin College. In 1993 Ted moved to New York where he worked in educational publishing for 10 years. Ted left full time publishing to pursue music. One result was a wonderful partnership with Andrea Fixell called Sign-a-Song(tm) — a musical introduction to American Sign Language for babies and their caregivers. With Sign-a-Song, Ted produced 2 CDs featuring many of his original songs, contributed the track “Friends” to the first Park Slope Parents compilation CD, and co-authored the book Baby Signing-How to Talk with Your Baby in American Sign Language (Viking Studio, 2006). Ted teaches music at Brooklyn Heights Montessori and Discovery Programs and Families First.
