How It Works

Each week is focused on a different specialty. Children will explore the week’s specialty and their own creative voice in addition to enjoying themselves during free play.
Lunch @ J.J. Byrne Playground (weather permitting), with sprinkler fun!
In the Afternoons:
Children will get to experience a menu of activities, led by counselors, special workshops and/or guest performances including arts and crafts, singing, yoga, video scavenger hunts and more!

SPECIALTY DESCRIPTIONS
Creative Circus
A summer favorite — includes juggling, clowning, tumbling, slapstick and physical comedy and is sure to tickle the funny bone.
Gotta Sing! Gotta Dance!
This specialty offers a unique interpretation of traditional musical theater — singing, dancing and acting — all in one shot. Voice technique and various acting styles will be incorporated. You won’t believe what these young performers can accomplish in one week!
Lights! Video! Action!
Young people direct, create and act in this fun and informative specialty. Basic camera operation techniques will be taught along with storyboarding and story development.
Tumble Moves
Through acrobatic techniques, dance and yoga, the world will be turned topsy-turvy and upside-down! Basic tumbling (cart-wheeling, rolls and round-offs), upside-down skills (head and hand stands) and elements of breakdance and yoga (arm balancing, upside-down freezes) will be explored.
Curtains Up!
Young actors will unleash their imaginations while learning to use their voices and bodies on stage through theater games and storytelling, making for a creative, interactive experience.
Puppet Parade
Working collaboratively, young artists will build their puppets from scratch using a variety of materials. Their one-of-a-kind creations will come to life as they parade down Fifth Avenue in Park Slope.
INFORMAL PERFORMANCES:
Each week culminates with an informal showing for family and friends. The Jumping Tomatoes have their performances on Thursdays at 2:30pm, and the Hot Tamales on Fridays at 2:30pm. Except for weeks 1 and 6. These weeks, both JT’s and HT’s have their show on Friday.
