OUR PHILOSOPHY
At BAX, we foster creativity, encourage exploration and provide a positive and nurturing environment. Children connect to one another and to our staff and experience the exhilaration of being an artist whether at age 4 or 11. Our staff and teaching specialists are dedicated to providing a vibrant learning and engaging environment for every child. BAX provides an excellent child-to-staff ratio and ensures that each child is treated as an individual.
We strive to create a non-competitive focus and proactive ways to be inclusive in our interactions with each other.
THE PROGRAM
NEW GROUPINGS!
NanoBAXers for 25 kids entering grades K-1 – WAIT LIST ONLY
MegaBAXers for 30 kids entering grades 2-4
GigaBAXers for 30 kids entering grades 4-6
No particular talent or experience is necessary only interest and curiosity.
Drop off begins at 8:30am. The program runs from 9:00am-3:00pm.
Late pick-up is available until 5:00pm.
Children bring their own lunch. BAX supplies two healthy snacks.
Each group is staffed by a Group Leader, two Senior Counselors, two Junior Counselors and Arts Specialists. The program is supervised by a Program Director and the Education Department Staff.
HOW IT WORKS
IN THE MORNING:
MegaBAXers & GigaBAXers
Each week is focused on a different specialty. Children will explore the week’s specialty and their own creative voice in addition to enjoying themselves during free play.
NanoBAXers
Will explore the theme of each week along with a variety of Guest Artists through movement, theater, music and stories.
IN THE AFTERNOONS:
Lunch @ J.J. Byrne Playground (weather permitting), with sprinkler fun!
All children will experience a menu of activities, led by counselors, special workshops and/or guest performances including arts and crafts, singing, yoga, video scavenger hunts and more!
INFORMAL PERFORMANCES & GALLERY FRIDAYS:
Each week culminates with an informal sharing for family and friends. Mega & GigaBAXers showcase the work they have done on their specialty in our theater. NanoBAXers will host family & friends in a gallery format showcasing their weekly accomplishments.
The MegaBAXers’ performances are on Thursdays at 2:30.
The GigaBAXers’ performances are on Fridays at 2:30.
The NanoBAXers host their Gallery Fridays at 2:30.

mermaid parade, carnival, bearded ladies and face painting. A circus celebration, with a Brooklyn twist.

WEEK 1 | July 2 – 6 (off July 4) | CREATIVE CIRCUS
A summer favorite — includes juggling, clowning, tumbling, slapstick and physical comedy and is sure to tickle the funny bone.
WEEK 2 | July 9 – 13 | MEDIA MADNESS - WAIT LIST ONLY
This specialty is for young media junkies to develop their ideas using video. Exploring core concepts of digital media young artists develop their point of view creating mini projects such as PSA, stop/go animation, and music videos.
WEEK 3 | July 16 – 20 | TUMBLE MOVES - WAIT LIST ONLY
Through acrobatic techniques, dance and yoga, the world will be turned topsy-turvy and upside-down! Basic tumbling, upside-down skills and elements of breakdance and yoga will be explored.
WEEK 4 | July 23 – 27 | CURTAINS UP!
Young actors unleash their imaginations while learning to use their voices and bodies on stage through theater games and storytelling, making for a creative, interactive experience.
WEEK 5 | July 30 – August 3 | GOTTA SING! GOTTA DANCE! - WAIT LIST ONLY
This specialty offers a unique interpretation of traditional musical theater — singing, dancing and acting — all in one shot. Voice technique and various acting styles are incorporated. You won’t believe what these young performers accomplish in one week!
WEEK 6 | August 6 – 10 | PUPPET PLAY
Working collaboratively, young artists build their puppets using a variety of materials. Their one-of-a-kind creations come to life in a theatrical presentation that explores the scope and imagery of the world of puppetry.
WEEK 7 | August 13 – 17 | DANCE FRENZY
An action packed week of dance and movement. Young movers explore various forms of dance using their bodies and imagination. A perfect forum for kids to learn movement and choreographic principles that enable them to create their own dances.

Annual Non-Refundable Registration fee: . . . . . . . . . $35
LATE PICK UP (3-5PM)
$10 per day if paid in advance, or $15 per day if arranged after 3pm on Monday of each week. All Late-Pick Up fees are nonrefundable and non transferable.
PAYMENT POLICY
Half of the tuition plus the registration fee must be received to secure your spot. The balance is due no later than Friday June 1, 2012. Registration will be voided if payment is not received or postmarked by Friday June 1, 2012.
REFUND POLICY
ON OR BEFORE TUESDAY MAY 1, 2011
Cancellations accepted minus a $25 cancellation fee. Registration fee is non-refundable.
AFTER TUESDAY MAY 1, 2012
Cancellations or changes incur a $50 fee per week, provided BAX can fill the spot with a full paying student. If spot cannot be filled all tuition is forfeited.
Registration fee is non-refundable.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Financial assistance is available on a first come, first serve basis. Scholarship applications can be downloaded from HERE, or by request at the BAX reception desk.
