YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAM 2010
A creative program for Young Artists entering grades 6th–8th.
Each 2 week session has its own creative focus and will challenge them 11:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

DANCE RIOT
Monday, July 12, 2010 – Friday, July 23, 2010
Two weeks of action packed grooving that includes a broad range of dance styles taught by five different movement specialists. Dancers get to use their bodies and imaginations to create their own movement and are challenged by learning movement combinations influenced by modern dance, hip hop, contact improvisation and capoeira. So if you think you can move, SHOW UP READY TO DANCE.
Here are a few of the talented dance specialists that will be working during DANCE RIOT session to make for an exciting and challenging movement experience.

Monday, July 26, 2010 – Friday, August 6, 2010
This guerilla style workshop will push young media junkies to develop their ideas with the use of video, Flip cameras, computers and digital camcorders. The workshop is designed to provide a planning framework and instruction around core concepts as well as challenge them to find and share their points of view.
Young Artists may work on creating Public Service Announcements, mini documentaries, music videos, and stop/go animation.
*participants are encouraged to bring their own media hardware (Flip cameras, digital cameras and computers) to complement our equipment.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Participants will jump right into the specialty upon arrival, spending an intensive 3 hours per day with Specialists. After lunch, the activities shift into ensemble based projects led by the Group Leader, balancing straight up fun with creative components that support the specialty. Activities might include: Poetry Throw Down, Video Scavenger Hunts, Costume Carnival.
CREATIVE CITIZENRY
One day per week will be focused on creative citizenry, bringing their creativity out into their own community to promote engagement and civic responsibility. This component will be participant generated and is designed to challenge the limits of their creativity.
BREAKFAST CLUB
Breakfast Club, the YAP early drop-off option, is now available from 9:00-11:00am each morning. A skilled counselor will lead engaging structured and creative activities. Join us in the morning to start your day off on the right foot!
Participants are welcome to arrive anytime during breakfast club hours. Earliest drop off is available starting at 8:30 am, with structured activities beginning at 9:00am. Breakfast NOT included.
Fee: $10 per day if paid in advance, or $15 per day if arranged after 3pm on 1st Monday of each session. All Breakfast Club Fees are non-refundable and non transferable.
TUITION/FEES
Each 2 Week Session: $600.00
Late Pick-up (4–5PM): $5.00 per hour
Breakfast Club (early drop-off, 8:30-11am): $10 per day (in advance)
$15 per day (after 3pm of 1st Monday of each session)
Annual, non-refundable registration fee: $35.00
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Financial assistance is available on a first come, first serve basis. Scholarship applications can be downloaded HERE, or requested at the BAX reception desk.
REFUND POLICY
ON OR BEFORE MONDAY, MAY 31, 2010
Cancellations accepted minus a $25 cancellation fee.
Registration fee is non-refundable.
AFTER MONDAY, MAY 31, 2010
Cancellations incur a $50 cancellation fee per session cancelled, provided BAX can fill the spot with a full paying student. If spot cannot be filled all tuition is forfeit. Registration fee is non-refundable.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• Participants should bring lunch in a soft-sided lunch box, paper or plastic bag. BAX provides two healthy snacks.
• Maximum of 25 students per session
• We have an excellent child to staff ratio including Group Leader Sara Grundman, two counselors, Education Department Administrative staff, and Program Director Andrew Jannetti.
